A great deal of routine work is judgement applied to text.

Some of it is ready for AI. Some of it is not.

Questions

Askedoften.

Q01How can a small or mid-sized Calgary business use AI?

Common starting points are routing incoming enquiries, summarising calls and meetings, classifying documents, and drafting routine replies, always with a person approving anything consequential.

Q02Do we need AI, or would automation be enough?

Often a rules-based automation is the more reliable and cheaper answer. Arctos will say so instead of selling AI anyway.

Q03Is our data used to train someone else's model?

No. Providers and configurations are chosen so your data is not retained for training, and the data handling is documented as part of the work.

Q04What happens when the AI gets something wrong?

Anything with real consequences keeps a human approval step, and the system is built to escalate cases it is not confident about rather than guess.

Q05Is there funding for AI projects in Alberta?

Mostly as financing rather than grants. BDC's LIFT initiative, launched in April 2026, pairs small and medium-sized businesses with advisors and then offers loans to implement AI, and Alberta Innovates and NRC IRAP can support AI work that develops new technology. Arctos keeps a plain-language funding guide on this site.

Q06Do you work with organizations outside Calgary?

Yes. Arctos is based in Calgary, Alberta, and works with organizations across Canada and the United States.
